Extensions for Firefox 3 are LIVE!

Posted by Jeremy Gillick on 14 Jul 2008 08:23 am in Extensions

I just finished updating all my extensions for Firefox 3! Thank you for your support and patients during this upgrade. The Firefox code and extension API changed a bit which required me to go back and refactor some of the code and deployment scripts. Currently the Firefox 3 versions are only available from my site (http://mozmonkey.com) and I’m working on getting them to the official addons site now.

If you have problems with any of the extensions, please leave a comment to this blog post.

Thanks for all your support.

If I use switch proxy, when I open the addons window and I open another window of firefox, the bookmarks don’t work anymore. If I disable the switch proxy all works good. Really strange … only in firefox 3!

    Hi
    The link on
    Mozmonkey claims its version 1.01

    but v2 downloads

I had ignored this until I read your post
    as it was misleading.

    Good extension
I switched from Dwarf URL cos they have done nothing to update theirs, even their contact page is a 404 error !
    Ye Gods, Nooooo!

    Thank-you for the updates!

I use OpenDownload every day. Thank-you also for being willing to hand-off the extensions so that development may continue.

Good luck in your search for a home for your extensions.

2.0 version on firefox 3.0.1 on WindowsXP (did not try other platforms) does not work well with tiny.com if the URL contains ? and/or &, those chars are replaced with things like 3F but without proper escaping, direct access to tiny.com works instead

Tiny URL Creator 1.05 doesn’t work well with FF 2.0.0.12 (problem with cookies (preview mode messed up) and problem with characters (as Stefano said)).
I’ve sent you two mails with details and screenshots on Saturday, July the 19th.

I use StockTicker with FF-3.01 in my office but at home it is not compatible with FF-3.01.

Any ideas to solve this problem?

    Thanks

First off all, thank you for building these great add-ons!
Problem is that at least 2 of them are blocked by FF since the previous FF release:
    - Lorem Ipsum Content Generator
    - SecurePassword Generator

For these 2 add-ons, FF gives following error message:
“Not compatible with Firefox 3.0.10, does not provide secure updates”

Thank you very much for your Firefox extensions. If you don’t mind my asking, will you be updating the Copy Plain Text extension for Firefox 3.5? It is one of the most useful extensions I have installed, and I would very much rather to not have to return to copying and pasting through Notepad.

    Thank you.

These extensions are great, but at least Secure Password Generator seems to be in need of an update for Firefox 3.5. Is it reasonable to assume that you have it in the queue?

    Thanks again.

Hey, thanks for SwitchProxy Tool!!! It is usefull!! BUT, as others have said it doesn’t work on Firefox 3.5 (firefox will not respond to any click and errors are produced from ProxyTool preferencies) I’m willing to provide more info if you need me to.

In the other hand, the Firefox add-on page incorrectly says that it is supported on firefox 3.6.* (https://addons.mozilla.org/es-ES/firefox/addon/125) I’m not sure whether you provide this information or can correct it directly or not…

was looking forward to using the switchproxy tool, greatly! i have no choice but to connect to an unsecure internet. so being able to switch between proxies is a wonderful thing for me. however, i’ve dl’d and installed and uninstalled and reinstalled several times and it doesn’t work.
i can’t change the options, no toolbar or context menu shows up. i dl’d it directly from the add-ons page and from ure website, still didn’t work and even though it says on firefox that the version is 1.4.1, i dl’d version 1.4.2
is this ever going to work with firefox version 3.6? i tend to upgrade with firefox whenever they come out with a new version.
this would be nice to use….

Hi Jeremy - thanks for this extension, however looks like it’s stopped working in ff 3.6.3 onwards. Also when we go to configure options, it freezes firefox. Appreciate if you could look into it (or maybe release the source code).

Thanks again and have a great day.

Yea, I see some other posts, you have us hooked. The StockTicker is great, but not working in the latest FF. Would love to see it on my browser again.

    Thanks!
